SEPANG: The three prime suspects including two lawyer brothers detained in connection with the murder case of millionaire cosmetics queen Datuk Sosilawati Lawiya and three others have been further remanded for six days.
The remand order granted by the Sepang magistrate's court court today was for the police to carry out investigations into the missing case of Indian millionaire A. Muthuraja. They were brought to court at 9.30am before magistrate Hurman Hussain.
The trio were re-arrested by the police after their earlier remand order in relation to Sosilawati's death ended yesterday. Muthuraja, 34 went missing since January 18 last year.
His wife S. Usharani lodged a police report at the Banting police station on his disappearance on Sept 8.
She arrived in the country on Wednesday to assist police with their investigation into the case.
On Friday Usharani handed a cellphone containing a recorded conversation she had with parties in Malaysia pertaining to the case. Police have re-classified her husband's case from missing person to victim of murder.
The development came in the wake of the murder of Sosilawati and three others. Sosilawati 47, her driver Kamaruddin Shamsudin, 44, lawyer Ahmad Kamil Abdul Karim, 32, and CIMB Bank officer Noorhisham Mohammad, 38, who went missing on Aug 30 after they went to Banting, Selangor, over a land deal.
Police believe the same suspects were responsible for these murders. Eight people, including the two lawyers, have been rounded up in connection with the case.
Sosilawati and the three are others are believed to have been battered to death, burnt and their ashes thrown into several streams near a farm in Banting.
The farm is believed to be owned by one of the lawyer suspects.
